Why Do We Study Music In School?
Every human culture has express its ideas and ideals with the art form of music. Music reinforces reading, math, science, geography and social studies. When we sing American folk songs and patriotic songs, students experience our history and culture. Music promotes social adjustment and self-confidence. Lowell Mason put it this way: "Good music tends to improve the heart, thus promoting the cause of human happines, virtue and faith.
Your child will performing a variety of tasks in music class. They will sing, play instruments, move, read music, learn music symbols, create thier own music and learn how music relates to other subjects. Their grade will be determinded by their particicpation and written work.
Class Announcements Concert DatesDue to having larger audiences this year, we will be having our concerts in the Middle School auditorium. Because of this, some of our concert dates had to be rescheduled. Listed below are our new concert dates:
1st grade March 1st 2nd grade April 12 4th grade May 3rd The concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. Kindergarten ConcertThe Kindergarten students will be performing a short program on Oct. 13th at 7:00. Please arrive by 6:45 p.m. The concert will be at West Elementary and the students should wear nice clothing for the occasion.
